'Exile One is an influential Dominican band which created a musical genre in 1973 (on the island of Guadeloupe) known as cadence-lypso, a style of music that fused cadence-rampa and calypso. The band's leader is Gordon Henderson, who created a distinctive style by adding calypso-style horns of the Anglo-Caribbean to the dominant Creole Haitian Kompa and describes the music as "a synthesis of Caribbean and African musical patterns fusing the traditional with the contemporary".
