Brigadier-General Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, LVO, OBE, MSD, OStJ, (born July 5, 1941) (often referred to as Na Turaga Mai Naisogolaca) is a Fijian military dictator and the current Acting President of Fiji. - Brigadier-General Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, LVO, OBE, MSD, OStJ, (born July 5, 1941) (often referred to as Na Turaga Mai Naisogolaca) is a Fijian military dictator and the current Acting President of Fiji. He has had a long career in the Military, diplomatic service, and government. From 2001 to 2006 he served as Speaker of the House of Representatives - the lower and more powerful chamber of the Fijian Parliament. He was also the Chairman of the Parliamentary Appropriations Committee and of the House Committee. On January 8 2007, he was appointed the interim Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade; he was moved to the post of interim Minister for Provincial Development and Multi-Ethnic Affairs in September 2008. In October 2008, he became Indigenous Affairs Minister "and effectively Great Council of Chiefs chairman". On 17 April 2009, he was appointed Vice-President by the Military government. On July 30, 2009, he became Acting President after the retirement of 88-year-old President Iloilo.

También es el Jefe del Gran Consejo de Jefes de Fiyi y fue Vicepresidente de Fiyi en el gobierno de Frank Bainimarama impuesto tras el Golpe de Estado de 2006. Ha tenido una larga carrera militar, diplomática y política. Desde 2001 a 2006 ocupó el puesto de Presidente de la Cámara de Representantes, la cámara baja del Parlamento de Fiyi. Paso al gobierno el 8 de enero como Ministro de Asuntos Exteriores y Comercio Exterior, pasa ser trasladado en septiembre de 2008 al departamento de Desarrollo Provincial y Asuntos Multiétnicos. En octubre de 2008, se convirtió en Ministro de Asuntos Indígenas y en el líder del Gran Consejo de Jefes. Sucedió a Beinirama quien había sustituido de forma interina a Ovini Bokini. El 17 de abril de 2009 pasó a ocupar el puesto de vicepresidente que estaba vacante desde el golpe militar. Desde agosto ocupa el puesto de presidente de forma interina, hasta que el gobierno elija un nuevo jefe de estado.

Le 17 avril 2009, il est nommé vice-président de la République par le gouvernement militaire de l'amiral Bainimarama. Le poste de était vacant depuis le coup d’État le 5 décembre 2006; Ratu Jona Madraiwiwi avait occupé le poste jusqu'à cette date . Le 28 juillet 2009, le président Iloilo annonce qu'il prend sa retraite le 30, soit deux jours plus tard. Ratu Nailatikau le remplace comme président par intérim.
