Emacs/W3 is a web browser for the GNU Emacs text editor, written primarily by William M. Perry and entirely in GNU Emacs Lisp. Like lynx, links, elinks, and w3m, it is primarily text-based. Emacs/W3 is part of the Sumo package for XEmacs, and the submodule for fetching an URL is currently part of the GNU Emacs CVS . As noted by the maintainer, the W3 package is currently monolithic and somewhat obsolete. A project has been proposed to reengineer W3 for increased modularity.
