Eleanor of Alburquerque (1374-1435) became Queen consort of Aragon by her marriage to Ferdinand I of Aragon. In Spanish she is known as Leonor Urraca de Castilla, Condesa de Alburquerque. Her father was Sancho of Alburquerque, who was an illegitimate son of King Alfonso XI of Castile and his mistress Eleanor of Guzman, and a brother of King Henry II of Castile. Her mother was Infanta Beatriz, Countess of Alburquerque, who was daughter of Peter I of Portugal and Ines de Castro.

  • Eleonora Urraca van Kastilië was koningin van Aragón en Gravin van Alburquerque. Eleonora, bijgenaamd La Rica Hembra,, werd geboren als dochter van Sancho van Castilië, graaf van Alburquerque en Beatrix van Portugal. Vanwege haar afkomst had Eleonora veel grond en andere bezittingen in Castilië, Rioja en Extremadura. In 1393 trouwde ze met haar neef, Ferdinand van Antequera, (de zoon van Johan I van Castilië). Ferdinand werd koning door het Compromis van Caspe, gesloten in 1412, en Eleonora werd hierdoor koningin van Aragón. Na de dood van Ferdinand in 1416 trok Eleonora zich terug in een door haar gesticht klooster in Medina del Campo. Van daaruit probeerde zij te onderhandelen tussen haar kinderen, de prinsen van Aragón. Haar pogingen waren tevergeefs. In de jaren die volgden waren er voortdurend conflicten om de macht in verschillende Spaanse koninkrijken als Aragón, Castilië, en Navarra. Casou-se em 1393 com o seu primo afastado, o rei Fernando I de Aragão, filho de Leonor de Aragão e de João I de Castela, tendo, nessa altura, ele apenas 13 anos e ela 19 anos. Tornara-se agora rainha de Aragão.
