Eimeria meleagrimitis is a species of Eimeria that causes congestion or petechia from the duodenum to the ileum with dilation of the jejunum and mucosal cast in the small intestines of turkeys. This moderate to severe pathogen is confirmed on necropsy followed by scrappings to few the oocysts under a microscope. Infection is more common in poults causing birds to appear unthrifty, suffer dehydration, weight loss and leading to morbidity or mortality.
