The original design was by four graduates from the Royal College of Art, and was first shown at the degree show at the College in 2003. It was launched in April 2004 and has won a number of awards. It appears in several colors, and comes with a run 220 centimeters (about 7 feet) long. The eglu itself is roughly 80 centimeters (2 feet, 8 inches) long and wide.
