  • Edward "Eddie" Vinatea was born 1958 in Queens, New York and is a singer-songwriter, composer, record producer and currently, a mastering engineer. Musically gifted, he studied piano theory at the Bradley Music Learning Center on 14th Street, Manhattan, New York. He then studied audio engineering at the White Cloud studio in Long Island. His teacher was studio owner Howard Stein, a former Madison Square Garden engineer. Edward went on training in the art of mastering with Dick Charles (Richard Charles Waldspurger) who had a mastering facility in Manhattan, New York. "Eddie" caught an interest in the digital recording technology almost from its beginning and he was among the first ones to provide digital editing services to independent artists and producers in New York. He started his mastering career operating out of his Manhattan recording Studio located on West 23rd Street. Since then he has mastered hundreds of independent artists, bands and producers. In 1988 he teamed up with Brian Bonhomme lead guitarist of the eighty's famous UK group Roman Holliday and formed a songwriting-duo which culminated on with the creation of Eddie's first official rock group "BROKEN CODES" in 1990 with David Rose singing lead. In 1995 he worked with world class bubble gum producers Jerry Kasenetz and Jeff Katz and remixed their hit "Black Betty" which was made famous in 1977 by rock group Ram Jam. He worked as a club DJ at the Tunnel New York on Friday nights as Junior Vasquez during the years 1996-1998 and with DJ Etienne DeYans at Life on Bleecker Street. A chance meeting in 1999 with Randy Irwin, one of the managers of the Shirelles, gave Edward the opportunity to apply digital mastering to the last recordings from this legendary female group, but it's still pending publishing clearance. He has also mastered Shirley Alston Reeves's (formerly known as Shirley Owens) current Live show CDs . In 1997 he met producer and label owner Kimo Kaulani and mastered Geri King's second CD album release and all King's subsequent releases. With Kaulani, Edward Vinatea would create a business relationship that lasts until today, mastering all his labels' artists. However, working on Geri King's masters is where Vinatea would achieve several award nominations. Some artists worth to mention are Connie Johnson-Brown nominated for a Dove award and Ashley Altman nominated for Grammy awards in 2006 for 'Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for the song "Missing You" and Geri King for "Song Of the Year 2006" and who was also nominated as songwriter for the theme "To Whom It May Concern" and People’s Choice nomination 2002 for Déjà Vu. In 2005 Edward Vinatea mastered Cindy Blackman's "Music For The New Millennium", a double CD Jazz album that had a critical acclaim and was well received by the Jazz community. Kaulani was also part of the mastering credit. In 2006 Edward meets party enterprenuer- music producer and label owner Peter "Munch" Godtfredsen who is also known as a Cielo NYC DJ. With Godtfredesen's label Cosmopolitan Records, he is chief mastering engineer. Another artist mastered in 2006 by Vinatea is singer-songwriter and TV star John Davidson who was famous for hosting the NBC TV show "The New Hollywood Squares" and who is now dedicating to making music and comedy at select locations.
