Edgar Wind (14 May 1900 – 12 September 1971) was a German-born British interdisciplinary art historian, specializing in iconology in the Renaissance era. He was a member of the school of art historians associated with Aby Warburg and the Warburg Institute as well as the first Professor of art history at Oxford University.

Er gehörte als erster Schüler von Erwin Panofsky zur Warburg-Schule und arbeitete nach dessen Übersiedlung nach London am Warburg Institute. Er hat Aby Warburg noch kennengelernt, der den analytischen Verstand des jungen Kunsthistorikers sehr schätzte. Wie Panofsky war Wind Ikonologe und ein Spezialist der italienischen Kunst und Philosophie. Ihren platonistischen Bildern und Vorstellungen, den heidnischen Mysterien der Renaissance ist sein Hauptwerk gewidmet. Seine wichtigen Bücher sind die philosophische Habilitationsschrift Das Experiment und die Metaphysik (1934), das kunsthistorische Werk Heidnische Mysterien in der Renaissance (Pagan Mysteries in the Renaissance) (1958) und der kunstphilosophische Essayband Kunst und Anarchie (Art and Anarchy), die Reith Vorlesungen der BBC, 1960 gesendet, 1963 erfolgreich veröffentlicht. Dazu kommen viele kunstwisenschaftliche Essays, über Michelangelo und Pionierarbeiten zur englischen Kunstgeschichte. Winds philosophischer Lehrer war Ernst Cassirer. Er hatte in Freiburg Husserl und Heidegger gehört, lehnte ihren Denkstil aber strikt ab. Schon Husserl hielt er für irrationalistisch und Heidegger war für ihn im Rückblick der geborene Nationalsozialist . Zwei Jahre in North Carolina brachten ihn in Kontakt mit dem amerikanischen wissenschaftlichen Pragmatismus und Das Experiment und die Metaphysik ist davon geprägt. Aber schon Aby Warburg hatte seine philosophisch psychologischen Notizen als pragmatisches Philosophieren verstanden und dennoch Hegel bewundern können.
