Edgar Martínez (born January 2, 1963 in New York City, but raised in the Maguayo neighborhood of Dorado, Puerto Rico) is a former Major League Baseball player who retired at the end of the 2004 season. He spent his entire 18-year major league career with the Seattle Mariners. During his time with the Mariners he was nicknamed Gar and Papi.
