Eddie Kendricks (born Edward James Kendrick; December 17, 1939 – October 5, 1992) was an American tenor singer and songwriter. Noted for his distinctive falsetto singing style, Kendricks co-founded the Motown singing group The Temptations, and was one of their lead singers from 1960 until 1971. His was the lead voice on such famous songs as "The Way You Do The Things You Do", "Get Ready", and "Just My Imagination".

Just My Imagination war der letzte Hit der Temptations bei dem seine Stimme zu hören war. Gleich mit Keep On Truckin´, der ersten Single-Auskopplung aus seinem Solo-Debüt All By Myself, glückte ihm 1971 ein Nr. 1-Hit in den US-Charts. Drei Jahre später konnte er diesen Erfolg mit der Tanznummer Boogie Down aus der gleichnamigen LP noch einmal wiederholen. Danach flaute das Interesse an der Musik der ehemaligen Temptations-Stimme, trotz weiterer gelungener Solo-Alben, deutlich ab. 1987 tat sich Kendricks für ein Album mit seinem ehemaligen Kollegen David Ruffin zusammen und war auch mit diesem gemeinsam Stargast bei einem Konzert des berühmten soulbeeinflussten US-Popduos Hall & Oates. 1989 wurde er als Mitglied der Temptations in die Rock ´n Roll Hall Of Fame aufgenommen. Eddie Kendricks erlag am 5. Oktober 1992 im Alter von 52 Jahren einem Krebsleiden.
