dbpprop:footnotes
  • Williamson joined what turned out to have been a "death vigil" for his friend, the fallen Huey Pierce Long, Jr., in Baton Rouge, September 1935. Though Williamson was a firm Democrat in Louisiana, it is believed by his family that he did not support the elections of U.S. Presidents Harry Truman and Lyndon B. Johnson. (5) Williamson's epitaph in Pine Park Cemetery in Vivian, where he is buried between his two wives, reads: "A Servant of the People".
