He is most famous for being involved in the Rafael Palmeiro and Mitch Williams trade in 1988. He was used primarily as a relief pitcher and spot starter. Also was the first round pick by the Chicago Cubs in the 1984 draft. He was drafted one round before 300 game winner Greg Maddux.
