It was released on September 11, 2003 in Japan, on March 5, 2004 in North America and on May 21, 2004 in PAL territories. It was originally developed by cavia in the Enix name. Drakengard was scored by Takayuki Aihara and Nobuyoshi Sano. The game's sequel, Drakengard 2, was released in Japan on June 16, 2005.

- Drakengard est un beat them all sorti sur PlayStation 2 en 2003 (au Japon), édité par TakeTwo et par Square Enix, développé par Cavia. Le personnage principal se nomme Caim, un prince héritier, qui deviendra muet peu de temps après le commencement du jeu en faisant un pacte avec un dragon rouge. Il doit protéger la Déesse, sa soeur Furiae, contre les forces de l'Empire. Ce jeu contient trois fonctions de combat : sur terre, en rase mottes et en vol. Lors des combats sur terre, on dirige Caim et on utilise des armes et au vol et en rase mottes, on dirige le dragon rouge en attaquant avec des boules de feu. Le jeu contient plusieurs types d'armes : lance, épée longue, épée courte, hache etc. Toutes les armes peuvent monter jusqu'à 4 niveaux. Le dragon change de forme en devenant de plus en plus gros et évolue en puissance. Il y a trois alliés que nous pouvons avoir : Arioch, Leonard et Seere. On les invoque uniquement sur terre et prennent la place de Caim pour quelques temps.
