Il est composé de Jimi Goodwin (bassiste gaucher et chant, guitares acoustiques et parfois batterie et percussion) et des frères jumeaux Jez Williams et Andy Williams ... tous les trois nés en 1970. Si leur premier album, Lost Souls, sorti en 2000, ne fait pas un carton, malgré le single catch the sun pour son intro de guitare le groupe se fera connaître dans leur pays natal grâce à un single tiré de leur second album, there goes the fear. Dès sa sortie, The Last Broadcast se retrouvera en tête des charts britanniques. Le disque se conclue par le sublimissime single caught by the river, pounding est également publié en simple. Le morceau M62 song s'inspire du Moonchild de In the Court of the Crimson King du groupe de rock progressif King Crimson ce qui explique que le groupe se rendant compte du rapprochement ont été obligé de créditer les musiciens du 1 line-up de "Krimson".En 2005 l'album Some Cites confirme le succès de The Last Broadcast puisque le disque est également N°1 dès sa sortie en Angleterre grace au single black & white town. Sur cet album on retrouve la participation du compositeur japonais Ryuichi Sakamoto qui est crédité sur the storm, mention spécial pour le très beau walk in fire. Entre temps le groupe avait publié lost sides un album de remixe et de face B. Le groupe a également publié un DVD (Where We're Calling From, le 23 Septembre 2003) enregistré en Cornouaille Live at the Eden Sessions Cornwall dans le Sud de l'Angleterre, épaulé de Martin Rebelski aux claviers qui les accompagne aussi sur certains titres en studio. Il faut aussi présicer que le groupe n'hésite pas à échanger leur instruments sur scène et que si Jimmy Goodwin est le principal chanteur, les deux autres chantent également sur certains morceaux.
