Major-General Douglas Neil Wimberley CB, DSO, MC (15 August 1896 - 26 August 1983) was commander of the 51st (Highland) Division at the Second Battle of El Alamein in World War II and lead it across North Africa to Sicily. A career soldier, he became an officer during the First World War on the Western Front, serving as a staff and line Officer in many parts of the British Empire in the interwar years, before rising to the command of the unit which would make his name in the Middle East.
