Angeboten wurde der Omni als fünftürige Schräghecklimousine sowie von Herbst 1978 bis Sommer 1982 als dreitüriges Fließheck-Coupé Omni 024, das ab Modelljahr 1983 unter der Bezeichnung Dodge Charger lief. Schwestermodell des Dodge Omni war der bis auf die Embleme identische Plymouth Horizon, dessen Coupé-Variante zunächst Horizon TC3, ab Modelljahr 1983 Turismo hieß. Von den Coupés wurden auf verlängertem Radstand Pick-Up-Modelle abgeleitet, die in den Modelljahren 1982 bis 1984 als Dodge Rampage bzw. nur 1983 als Plymouth Scamp erhältlich waren. Die Dodge Omni- und Plymouth Horizon-Limousinen entsprachen optisch wie technisch im Wesentlichen dem europäischen Talbot Horizon, abgesehen von Details wie Felgen, Scheinwerfern usw. , verfügten aber über andere Motorisierungen und Getriebe und einen dem amerikanischen Geschmack angepassten Innenraum. Myöhemmin moottorin tehot nousivat aluksi 93 hevosvoimaan ja lopulta 96 hevosvoimaan. Volkswagenin 1,7-litrainen moottori korvattiin Simcan/Peugeot'n 1,6-litraisella vuonna 1983.
