In vielen Staaten gibt es inzwischen nationale Sektionen (national working parties). Die deutsche Sektion docomomo. de ist seit 2006 ein eigenständiger Verein. Die österreichische Arbeitsgruppe docomomo. at konstituierte sich 2000 und wurde 2001 von DOCOMOMO International offiziell anerkannt.
  • Docomomo International (parfois écrit DoCoMoMo) est un organisme à but non-lucratif dont le nom en entier signifie : International Working Party for Document and Conservation of Buildings, Sites and Neighbourhoods of the Modern Movement (Groupe de travail pour la documentation et la conservation les bâtiments du Mouvement moderne, de leur site et de leur ensemble urbain). Sa fondation fut inspirée par le travail d’Icomos, l’International Council for Monuments and Sites (Conseil international pour les monuments et sites) créé en 1965. Le travail d’Icomos se préoccupait de la protection et la conservation des bâtiments et des sites historiques, alors que DoCoMoMo a été fondé pour relever le défi de la protection et la conservation de l’architecture moderne et la promotion de l’urbanisme. DoCoMoMo fut fondé à Eindhoven en 1988 par les architectes néerlandais Hubert-Jan Henket et Wessel de Jonge. Hubert-Jan Henket présidait DoCoMoMo avec Wessel de Jonge comme assistant jusqu’en 2002, quand le Secrétariat international se délocalisa à Paris. Il est actuellement hébergé par l’Institut français d'architecture dans la Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine. DoCoMoMo tient des séminaires sur des publications à la fois thématiques et techniques. Les séminaires DoCoMoMo ISC/T ont couvert les thématiques suivantes : la restauration des structures en béton armé, des façades-rideaux, fenêtres et verre, le bois et le Mouvement moderne, les couleurs dans l’architecture moderne, et la pierre dans les bâtiments modernes. Les séminaires sont souvent tenus dans des bâtiments-phares du Mouvement moderne, comme par exemple lors du séminaire de 2003 dans la bibliothèque de Viipuri construite par Alvar Aalto. Beaucoup de pays ont leur association nationale DoCoMoMo, soit faisant partie d’un établissement académique, soit en tant que fédération architecturale.

Obecnie w wielu krajach świata istnieją narodowe sekcje, określane jako national working parties. Koordynatorem polskiej sekcji jest prof. Jadwiga Urbanik z Politechniki Wrocławskiej. Docomomo organizuje sympozja dotyczące aspektów historyczno-estetycznych, jak również problemów związanych z konstrukcją i renowacją. Tematy sympozjów dotyczą np. renowacji konstrukcji żelbetowych i ścian kurtynowych czy użycia różnych materiałów budowlanych w budynkach modernistycznych.
