- Dissident Congress is a party description for the Populist Party based in the United Kingdom. This Dissident Congress does not exist as a separate organisation from the Populist Party because it is only a party description. It may exist in name only as no mention is made of Dissident Congress in the Populist Party Statement of Accounts from 2008. The Populist Party is generally considered to be a moderate nationalist party situated between the United Kingdom Independence Party and the British National Party (BNP), but is not a libertarian Conservative party. Economically it is left of centre and socially it is right of centre. This has caused some confusion with political observers used to looking at politics as a primarily left versus right spectrum. The party is against immigration, although it claims to place more of an emphasis on culture and space rather than race. It is more moderate on issues of race and religion than the BNP is, and is open to people of all races and religion who generally agree with their policies. Neither Dissident Congress nor the Populist Party has a known website and very little information about this outfit appears to exist in the public domain, therefore making it difficult to verify factual information. The Populist Party blog ceased to be updated in July 2005.
