However, his family roots are strongly found at The Avenue in Sunbury. This is now his holiday home where he goes to get some kip and relax in quieter times. His great grandfather, Doherty, moved there in 1898 from Ireland to help establish an Irish club in the London area, and now it’s Digger's job to keep up and maintain all his hard work! Much taller and much slower, Duggie has proved popular with younger children attending matchdays although Digger remains the Top Dog. As well as the two mascots, there is also a real Wolfhound, Mr Doyle, who also attends the home games. London Irish RFC has gone from strength to strength. The 08/09 season was a phenomenal year, and it has now set the benchmark for the seasons to come.
