Known as "Dick" to his team mates, he was a popular player with the Geordies and was made club captain in 1962. His career saw him play for Linfield F.C. , Newcastle United, A.F.C. Bournemouth and Weymouth F.C.. He played for Weymouth up until his death in 1967, when he died in an accident at a builders yard.
