Velasco trained many famous Mexican wrestlers, including Gory Guerrero, Perro Aguayo, Essa Rios, and Mil Mascaras. In 2001, Velasco was inducted into the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame in recognition of his career and extensive influence on lucha libre.
