- Die Demokratische Republik Kongo, von 1971 bis 1997 Zaïre, abgekürzt DR Kongo oder einfach der Kongo, ist ein Staat in Zentralafrika. Er grenzt (von Norden im Uhrzeigersinn) an die Zentralafrikanische Republik, den Südsudan, Uganda, Ruanda, Burundi, Tansania, Sambia, Angola, die Republik Kongo und an den Atlantik. Es ist an Fläche der zweitgrößte und an Bevölkerung der viertgrößte Staat Afrikas. Das Land wird vom Äquator durchzogen; daher herrscht tropisches Klima. Das Gebiet des heutigen Staates kam 1885 unter belgische Kolonialherrschaft. Die Herrschaft des belgischen Königs Leopold II. galt als eines der grausamsten Kolonialregime der damaligen Zeit. Nach der Unabhängigkeit 1960 wurde es nach mehrjährigen innenpolitischen Konflikten 32 Jahre lang von Mobutu Sese Seko diktatorisch regiert. 1997 wurde Mobutu von dem Rebellenchef Laurent-Désiré Kabila gestürzt. Auf den Machtwechsel folgte ein weiterer blutiger Bürgerkrieg, der aufgrund der Verwicklung zahlreicher afrikanischer Staaten als Afrikanischer Weltkrieg bekannt wurde. 2002 wurde ein Friedensabkommen unterzeichnet, im Osten des Landes finden aber bis heute weiterhin Kämpfe statt. Erstmals seit 1965 fanden 2006 freie Wahlen statt. Mall:Coord Mall:Landsfakta Demokratiska republiken Kongo (DRK), eller som det också kallas, Kongo-Kinshasa, är en stat i Centralafrika. Landet gränsar till Angola, Burundi, Centralafrikanska republiken, Republiken Kongo (Kongo-Brazzaville), Rwanda, Sydsudan, Tanzania, Uganda och Zambia.
- La République démocratique du Congo, en kongo Modèle:Lang, en swahili Modèle:Lang, en lingala Modèle:Lang, en tchiluba Modèle:Lang, est le deuxième plus vaste pays d'Afrique derrière l'Algérie, le quatrième pays le plus peuplé d'Afrique et le plus peuplé d'Afrique centrale. Le pays est aussi appelé plus simplement Congo mais aussi « Congo-Kinshasa » pour le différencier de la République du Congo voisine, elle-même appelée « Congo-Brazzaville » pour les mêmes raisons.
