- Delta Serpentis (δ Ser / δ Serpentis) is a star system in the constellation Serpens, in its head (Serpens Caput). It also has the traditional name Qin or Chin, from the Mandarin 秦朝, Qín Cháo, referring to the Qin Dynasty. It is approximately 210 light years from Earth. The light from the four stars in the system give a combined apparent magnitude of +3.80(combined). The system consists of a pair of binary stars separated by 66 arcseconds. The primary component, Delta Serpentis A, is a yellow-white F-type subgiant with an apparent magnitude of +4.2. It is classified as a Delta Scuti type variable star and its magnitude varies by 0.04 with a period of 0.134 days. Its binary companion, Delta Serpentis B, is also a F-type subgiant which is slightly dimmer, with a magnitude of +5.2. A and B are separated by four arcseconds on the sky, and perform one orbit around their centre of mass once every 3200 years. The 14th magnitude stars Delta Serpentis C and 15th magnitude Delta Serpentis D form the second binary sub-system. They are separated from each other by 4.4 arcseconds.

Sin nombre propio habitual, a veces ha sido llamado Qin o Chin, del chino mandarín 秦朝, Qín Cháo, en referencia a la dinastía Qin. Se encuentra a unos 210 años luz de distancia del Sistema Solar. Aunque a simple vista Delta Serpentis se ve como una estrella de magnitud aparente +3,8, observada a través del telescopio aparece como una estrella binaria cuyas componentes están separadas 3,9 segundos de arco, formando un conjunto similar a Porrima (γ Virginis). Ambas estrellas están catalogadas como subgigantes blancas de tipo espectral F0IV. La más brillante de las dos, δ Serpentis A, tiene una temperatura de 7550 K y una luminosidad 71 veces mayor que la del Sol. La otra componente, δ Serpentis B, es 26 veces más luminosa que el Sol. Sus radios respectivos son 5 y 3 veces más grandes que el radio solar, y sus masas son 2,4 y 2,1 veces mayores que la del Sol. Con una edad aproximada de 800 millones de años, ambas están a punto de convertirse en estrellas gigantes y, siendo la componente A más masiva, ha avanzado más en su evolución, habiendo terminado la fusión de hidrógeno en su núcleo. Ésta es una variable Delta Scuti, con una variación en su brillo de apenas 0,04 magnitudes con varios períodos de 3,04 y 3,74 horas. La separación real entre ambas componentes es de 375 UA con un período orbital de unos 3200 años, si bien el cálculo de la órbita es prematuro dado el lento movimiento orbital. Visualmente a 66 segundos de arco se encuentra otra estrella binaria muy tenue (magnitud 14) que puede estar físicamente relacionada con Delta Serpentis.

Gwiazda ta jest odległa od Słońca o ok. 210 lat świetlnych. Jej wielkość absolutna dla całego systemu wynosi -0,24. W skład systemu Delta Serpentis wchodzą: Delta Serpentis A, Delta Serpentis B, Delta Serpentis C oraz Delta Serpentis D. Składniki A i B są oddalone są od siebie o 4,4". Składnik ''Delta Serpentis A jest gwiazdą posiadająca wielkość gwiazdową 4,14, należy do typu widmowego F0 IV. Temperatura powierzchni tego karła wynosi ok. 27000 K. Składnik ''Delta Serpentis B jest gwiazdą posiadająca wielkość gwiazdową 5,13, typ widmowy F0 IV. Gwiazdy Delta Serpentis A oraz Delta Serpentis B obiegają wspólny środek masy raz na 3168 lat. Pozostałe składniki Delta Serpentis C oraz Delta Serpentis D znajdują się od siebie w odległości 4,4" i podobnie jak A i B tworzą układ podwójny, obiegając swój środek masy. Są to gwiazdy stosunkowo słabe, posiadają wielkości widome 14,7 i 15,2.
