The transmitter is on top of the Steam Mill building in Chester city centre, next to the Shropshire Union Canal and is relatively low-powered, yet manages to reach much of Flintshire. It was the first station expressly for Chester It was also the first commercial radio station for Deeside - the first radio station for Deeside being Radio Deeside, launched in 1980, merging with Radio Clwyd two years later. It also carries networked programming from the UTV Radio network in Stoke on Trent at various times, but this fact is not broadcast to its listeners. On June 11th 2009, the station bought local neighbouring station - 106.9 Silk FM - from The Local Radio Company.
