De Dijk is a Dutch rock band which formed in 1981. The band is named after the Zeedijk, a street in their hometown Amsterdam. Their music can be described as a mixture of soul, blues and rock 'n roll, with lyrics sung only in Dutch. Except for the latest Dijk-album, Hold on Tight (October 2010) and the song 'Enough is Enough' (2008), both of which are sung in English by Solomon Burke. They are considered as one of the most important Dutch acts of the past 25 years.

De Dijk was formed by Huub van der Lubbe, who also is an actor and poet, his brother Hans van der Lubbe and Nico Arzbach. The band started in a time when Dutch language pop music became highly popular, with bands like Doe Maar, Het Goede Doel and Toontje Lager. This kind of music is called Nederpop. Van der Lubbe performs as a poet as well. Perhaps as a consequence, the band is not only popular with teenagers but also with older people. During the nineties songs of De Dijk were a major source of inspiration for upcoming Dutch bands like Van Dik Hout and Bløf.

De band kwam voort uit de in 1975 opgerichte Nederlandstalige band Stampei. Eind 1987 ontving de band de Zilveren Harp, de prijs voor veelbelovende Nederlandse artiesten. Met de LP Niemand in de Stad vestigde de Dijk haar naam doordat er 100.000 van werden verkocht. In 1993 werd de band bekroond met een Gouden Harp, de onderscheiding wegens "grote verdiensten voor de Nederlandse lichte muziek". Hun live cd was goed voor platina. Ook de cd Blauwe Schuit deed het goed; platina en deze mochten ze van Joe Cocker ontvangen. Op 14 februari 2005 werd aan De Dijk de Edison Oeuvreprijs toegekend. In 2006 werd het vijfentwintigjarig bestaan van de band gevierd met een optreden in Ahoy Rotterdam, een cd en dvd en een verrassingsoptreden in Paradiso. In 2007 nam trompettist Peter van Soest de plaats in van de vertrokken Mike Booth. In 2009 won de band de Popprijs voor 2008. In 2010 kwam het album Hold On Tight uit, in samenwerking met de inmiddels overleden Solomon Burke.
