Lombardo attends Purdue University in Indiana where he is in the aviation program. He is a part-time guitar and percussion teacher at The Cady School of Music in Albany, New York during the summer months.. He has been in multiple bands in the Capital District of New York. Lombardo has also been a session musician in Albany. He has played on a number of albums over the years for various artists. In 2008, his old band, Springload (in which he played drums for at the time) owned and operated a music venue in Lafayette, Indiana, simply known as The Venue. It became the premier venue around Lafayette and the focal point of the Purdue music scene. The Venue hosted hundreds of bands, including a number of notable ones such as Ludo, Squirtgun, and Spitalfield, and a few high-profile contacts. Producer Mass Giorgini of Spitalfield released a live album on Go Kart Records that was recorded at The Venue. Prior to The Venue, the business was known as Downtown Records and sold vinyl and hosted live music. Lombardo is a student of NARAS in their New York chapter, and because of his experience in the music business, he is one of the few students in the country who is also a voting member. Lombardo and his brother, Mark, both won the prestigious Louis Armstrong Award in high school. Mark Lombardo is currently playing bass for a funk band directed by Jeremy Wall and attends SUNY Oneonta. Lombardo attended Shaker High School and was class friends with Kevin "Thrasher" Gruft of LoveHateHero. David Lombardo holds a technicians class amateur radio license as issued by the FCC. His callsign is KC2UUM.
