Dance Marathon at UCLA, commonly referred to as DM, is a 26-hour dance marathon that takes place annually in February on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles, with the purpose of raising money for pediatric AIDS. The first annual event took place in 2002 and, with only 180 dancers, raised more than $27,000. Today, it is the largest student-run philanthropy event on the West Coast, having raised over $387,000 in 2009, and over $1.75 million in its eight-year history.
