- Daniel 'Dan' Foster - popularly known as The Big Dog and Top Dogg - is an American radio presenter, based in Nigeria, and former Idol series judge. Foster was brought up in Washington by his widowed father - his mother had died when he was ten - but partly raised by his grandmother who lived in Baltimore. As a teenager, Foster was a rebellious young man. Apart from a stint with the Marines, he attended Morgan State University, Baltimore, where he graduated in Broadcasting and Drama. After working for several radio stations in his home country including Mix 106.5, he moved to Lagos, Nigeria and joined Cool FM in 2000, and has since been a favourite with Nigerian listeners. In 2001, Foster featured in the Nollywood movie Face of a Liar. A year later, he received an award for Best Radio Presenter of the year. He won the 2003, 2004, and 2005 Nigeria Media Merit Awards for 'Best Radio Personality'. He has also been recognised by the City People Awards: a respected organisation known for recognising outstanding individuals who have touched the lives of citizens in the community, they have named him “Media Person of the year” in 2004 and again in 2005. Foster was a judge on reality talent show Idols West Africa, alongside Nigerian Dede Mabiaku and Ghanaian Abrewa Nana. He was compared to American counterpart Randy Jackson, although he received some criticism for not showing up at the Ghana auditions. He was also the creator and director of the Cool Fm Praise Jam concerts that have taken place since 2004, with a total of over 22, 000 people in attendance. In September 2008, Foster left Cool FM for a new radio station Inspiration FM, which is funded by the owner of one of the countries biggest banks . Foster has a son, Joshua from his previous marriage. In 2009, shortly after his current wife gave birth to daugther Daniella, he was reportedly deported from Nigeria for violating his work visa conditions. It has been hinted that his former bosses at Cool Fm had masterminded his depature, as they were still fuming over their star broadcaster's decision to quit his job with them, which had cost the station ratings. Foster has since denied the claims, and states that he is still on good terms with his old colleagues at Cool - he had left them as he had nursed hopes of becoming an inspirational broadcaster. Now fully at Inspiration - also known as "the new sound of Famly Radio" - he has embraced his new role as an inspirational broadcaster, and Head of Broadcasting and Programmes.
