Curro was the mascot for the 1992 Seville World Fair. It has the shape of a big white bird with the legs of an elephant, whose long conical beak and crest had the colours of the rainbow. It was created by German designer Heinz Edelmann (who is best known for his work on the 1968 animated film, Yellow Submarine), who also gave it the name Curro, an Andalusian pet form of Spanish male name Francisco.

Su nombre Curro es una forma familiar dada en Andalucía a los llamados Francisco. La mascota se dio a conocer el el 14 de marzo de 1989 en Madrid y el 20 de abril de 1990 fue presentado oficialmente en Sevilla, en la Plaza de España, con una espectacular y multitudinaria fiesta multimedia. Curro consiguió calar entre los sevillanos y los españoles y se convirtió en una potente imagen que promocionaría Sevilla y su Exposición en todo el mundo. En la actualidad la imagen del pájaro del pico de colores sigue estando presente en la memoria de sevillanos y visitantes de Expo´92.
