Crewe Alexandra Football Club are an English football team based at Gresty Road in Crewe, Cheshire and nicknamed The Railwaymen due to the town's historical links with the rail industry. The club was formed in 1877 and reputedly named after Princess Alexandra (some suggest that the decision to form the club was actually taken in a pub named after the Princess and the club was named after the pub).

  • Crewe Alexandra Football Club are an English football team based at Gresty Road in Crewe, Cheshire and nicknamed The Railwaymen due to the town's historical links with the rail industry. They were founding members of the Second Division in 1892 but only lasted five years in the Football League. Since re-entering the competition in 1921, they have mostly remained in the lower divisions and have no major honours to their name. They currently are members of Football League Two after relegation, and are considered among the favourites for promotion.

Dit kwam onder meer door een FA Cup wedstrijd tegen Tottenham Hotspur, die met 13-2 werd verloren. Pas vanaf juni 1983, toen de in Milaan geboren Dario Gradi het roer overnam ging het beter met de club. In 1997 kwam de club in de Football League First Division en haalde in seizoen 1997/98 met een 11e plaats de hoogste klassering ooit. In 2002 degradeerde de club weer, maar een jaar later promoveerden ze meteen weer. Het seizoen 2004/05 werd afgesloten met een overwinning op Coventry City, waardoor degradatie naar de Football League One werd ontlopen, ten koste van Gillingham. Het was de eerste overwinning sinds de verkoop van Dean Ashton aan Norwich City in januari 2005. Het seizoen erop kon de club echter de degradatie niet afwenden.
