Pead was named in the PFA League Two Team of the Year for the second year running at the end of the 2007–08 season. Despite his awards, Craig Pead was made available for a free transfer by Brentford manager, Andy Scott at the conclusion of the 2007–08 season. However, Pead turned down a contract offer from Port Vale and decided to stay at Brentford for the final year of his contract. He was released at the end of the 2008–09 season.
