Dazu gehörten, wenn auch nur für kurze Zeit, Peter Albin und David Getz. Sie hatten sowohl davor, als auch danach bei Big Brother And The Holding Company gespielt. Ihren bekanntesten Auftritt hatte die Band beim legendären Woodstock-Festival 1969. Den größten kommerziellen Erfolg hatte die Band mit dem Anti-Kriegs-Lied I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-To-Die Rag von ihrem zweiten Album. Und der Beginn wurde zur Legende: „Gimme an F, gimme a U, gimme a C, gimme a K, what´s that spell: Fuck!“ Country Joe and the Fish lösten sich zu Beginn der 1970er Jahre auf. 1977 kam es für ein Album zu einer Reunion der beiden Bandleader. In der Folge wurde aber kein weiteres Album veröffentlicht. 2004 gab es für eine Tour eine weitere Reunion, bei der sich Barry Melton allerdings nicht beteiligte.
