- Constable Care is a community awareness mascot deployed by the Western Australia Police to inform primary schoolchildren about basic safety issues. He is now owned by a non-profit organisation, the Constable Care Child Safety Foundation, sponsored by the Perth Sunday Times newspaper. Constable Care was originated in 1984 by a member of the New South Wales Police Force Safety Advisory Section, Wayne Hodges. The concept was adopted in the late 1980s by the Western Australia Police and the West Australian newspaper which published each day a less-than-poetic rhyming couplet under Constable Care's byline, encouraging younger readers to be safety-conscious and civic-minded. Since moving to a different newspaper, Constable Care has lost his former moustache and his face is now less angular.
