L'équipe de football américain évoluait encore en DI-AA jusqu'en 2004 et son admission en Big East. L'équipe de basket-ball était elle présente depuis les années 1980 au sein de la Big East. Les garçons avaient déjà été champions nationaux en 1999 tandis que les filles furent déjà sacrées en 1995, 2000, 2002 et 2003.
