- Comcast SportsNet (or CSN) is a chain of regional sports network operated by the Comcast cable television company, operated as a part of the NBC Sports Group, which includes sister national channels Golf Channel and the NBC Sports Network (which were divested into a merged NBCUniversal in which Comcast holds majority ownership). The channels, CSN Bay Area, CSN California, CSN Chicago, CSN New England, CSN Northwest, CSN Philadelphia, CSN Mid-Atlantic and SportsNet New York, own broadcast rights to some or all of the major league sports teams in their area, along with other locally-oriented sports news and talk shows. In markets where it does not have an affiliate, CSN networks also carry national programming from Fox Sports Net, which primarily includes additional college football and basketball games, including Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) men's and women's basketball on Sundays, Pac-12 basketball on various nights, plus Big 12 and Pac-12 football on Saturdays during their respective seasons. As the result of the acquisition of a majority share in NBC Universal by Comcast in February 2011, the operations of CSN, along with sister national sports channels Versus and Golf Channel, were aligned into a merged NBC Sports division. While plans were made to re-brand the Comcast SportsNet channels under the NBC name as well, these plans have since been shelved. However, they will soon take on graphical elements from the new NBC Sports design.
