Formed in the mid-nineties, Colour Haze is one of the oldest German stoner outfits, and have since then become one of the flagships of the German stoner rock scene. Tours of the band have included headline spots at smaller national and international rock festivals, such as the U.S.

Local media coverage have included a broadcast of a concert on national television, when Colour Haze appeared at Rockpalast in 2007. Emerging from a sound heavily influenced by Black Sabbath on their first records, they moved away from a heavy to a more melodic sound, e.g. on their latest release All (2008), as remarked by Denmark's LowCut webzine.

Anfänglich starke Black Sabbath-Einflüsse nahmen vor allem mit dem 1999 erschienen Album Periscope zu Gunsten eines unverwechselbaren trockenen, basslastigen Klangbilds ab. Charakteristisch wirkt dabei Kogleks Gitarrenspiel, das zwischen warmen, trancelastigen Melodien und tiefverzerrten Riffparts wandelt. Mit den Alben Ewige Blumenkraft und Los Sounds de Krauts entwickelte die Band ihren Stil mit komplexeren Songstrukturen, Jazz-Elementen und zunehmenden Jamparts kontinuierlich weiter. Resultat waren zum Teil 20-minütige Songs, deren vorläufiger Höhepunkt auf dem 2004 erschienenen selbstbetitelten Album zu finden ist. Auf der Nachfolge-LP Tempel brechen die drei Münchner allerdings mit diesen überlangen, epochalen Strukturen und konzentrieren sich, auch zeitlich betrachtet, auf noch komplexere Arrangements, die wiederum noch stärker jazzig durchsetzt sind, zum Teil sogar weltmusikalische Züge aufweisen. Auch Kogleks Gesang, der stark zurückgenommen und mehr als zusätzliches reines Melodieinstrument fungiert, gewinnt an Komplexität und Variabilität.
