Cody Reed Kasch (born August 21, 1987) is an American actor. Kasch was born of Scottish heritage in Santa Monica, California and raised in Ojai,California on a working ranch until he was nearly fourteen, when he moved to Camarillo, California. After numerous television guest appearances, Kasch seemed to get his big break when he was cast in a regular role on the John Goodman sitcom Normal, Ohio, only to see that series be cancelled after only a few episodes.

Kasch was born of Scottish heritage in Santa Monica, California and raised in Ojai,California on a working ranch until he was nearly fourteen, when he moved to Camarillo, California. After numerous television guest appearances, Kasch seemed to get his big break when he was cast in a regular role on the John Goodman sitcom Normal, Ohio, only to see that series be cancelled after only a few episodes. Kasch played Texan high school student in the Australian teenage series, Out There. Four years later, Kasch was hired to play the character of Zach Young on the popular ABC comedy-drama Desperate Housewives, a role that provided Kasch instant fame. As the son of deceased Mary Alice Young, Kasch played one of the pivotal figures in the show's main mystery. After a brief absence from the show he returned in the season 3 as Gabrielle Solis' secret admirer. He is also the narrator for several audiobooks. He also guest starred in Side Order of Life. He also had a small role in the movie Napoleon Dynamite as a bullied student. Both of Kasch's parents were actively involved in the arts. His father was an actor and writer of locally-premiering plays, and his mother was a director and photographer. Cody showed signs of exceptionally high intelligence at an early age. He was able to complete complex math problems in the second grade, devoured both fiction and non-fiction books, and tutored other boys, both in his class and in higher grades. Even as an elementary school student, he scored higher on intelligence tests than most adults and was thereby admitted to publicly-funded programs for gifted youths. He participated in such programs until sixth grade, whereupon the monetary appeal of work led to his withdrawal from school. Thereafter, he spent little time dealing with typical teenage affairs, choosing instead to focus upon cognitive and creative activities, mostly involving his chosen craft, acting. As his older brother, actor Max Kasch, began to experience success, the friendly brothers competed for jobs and for the right to call each other "professionals". The brothers' relative success caused the entire Kasch family to leave Ojai and move to the more favorably-located Camarillo.
