Richard Clement Charles Thomas was a Wales international rugby union player. A flanker, he represented Cambridge University R.U.F.C. in the Varsity Match in 1949 and played for Swansea RFC and Coventry RFC. He earned 26 caps for Wales, between 1949 and 1959 and captained Wales in his last nine internationals.

He earned 26 caps for Wales, between 1949 and 1959 and captained Wales in his last nine internationals. He toured South Africa with the British and Irish Lions in 1955, playing in the last two international matches against South Africa and subsequently wrote a history of the Lions which was published just after his death in 1996. Thomas was born in Cardiff, educated at Blundell's School and married Ann Barter in 1954. He had three sons and one daughter and died in Swansea.
