- Claremorris, is a town in County Mayo in the west of the Ireland, at the junction of the N17 and the N60 national routes. It has a population of approximately 3,180. Claremorris sits at the bottom of a valley with all roads which lead to the town following hills in particular the old Knock road (known as the Knock hill) and Ballyhaunis road. Although low lying the town does not experience flooding. There is no major river through the town. It is one of the fastest growing towns in the West of Ireland. There was a 25% increase in the town's population between 2002 and 2006. The town has become a commuter town for both Galway and Castlebar.

La ville de Claremorris est faite d'un mélange d'agréments naturels, de possibilités de loisirs, et elle est parfaitement positionnée pour être la destination de vacances en famille, car elle offre de nombreuses attractions. Ces attractions incluent le parc McMahon, agréable pour la randonnée et les autres loisirs, le lac Clare, la pêche dans le lac Carra ou le lac Mask et le fameux "Marian Shrine" à Knock, qui voit des centaines de milliers de visiteurs chaque année. La ville héberge aussi le "Claremorris Open Art Exhibition" et des festivals de théâtre ou des "summer festivals". Un fort esprit de communauté prévaut à Claremorris, ce qui la rend vibrante. È situata sulla strada nazionale N17 che collega Galway a Sligo, ma è soprattutto un nodo ferroviario per le vicine Westport e Ballina, che collega a Dublino. Il tratto Ballina/Westport–Dublino si interseca a Claremorris nel non più usato tratto Limerick–Sligo del vecchio Western Railway Corridor. Attualmente è in corso una campagna (West on Track) per riaprire il tratto da Sligo a Galway e Limerick, che coinvolgerebbe cittadine intermedie come Tuam e Gort. Anticamente, c'era anche una ferrovia per Ballinrobe da Claremorris. Claremorris non ha grandi punti d'interesse nel suo centro abitato, oltre un bizzarro monumento formato da pezzi di barca, ma è molto suggestiva in ambito paesaggistico: Croagh Patrick, facilmente individuabile in lontananza, appare imponente e rende il paesaggio intorno a Claremorris, formato da foreste, drumlin tondeggianti e laghi impressionanti, piatto e delicato. La cittadina ha dato i natali al cardinale John D'Alton e può fruire di due scuole secondarie e varie, nell'area circostante, primarie.
