Clara Mannes, born Clara Damrosch was a German-born American musician, music educator. MAnnes was born in Breslau, she was a younger sister of Walter Damrosch. She married David Mannes. She founded and managed the Mannes College of Music with her husband. Leopold Mannes Damrosch is her son. Her talented great nephew David Damrosch has recently published another book, to great acclaim, entitled The Buried Book.
