Christopher Fettes (born in 1937 in England) is an Irish teacher, Green politician and activist of Esperanto-movement. He studied English and French at Trinity College, Dublin. In that time he became vegetarian and an esperantist. After his studies he became a citizen of Ireland. He began to work as a teacher. He also became active in numerous animal rights and esperantist organizations. He helped refound the anti-vivisection society in 1970 and the Vegetarian Society of Ireland in 1978.

During this time he also turned to politics: In 1981 he founded the Ecology Party of Ireland, which later became the Irish Green Party. He stood for the European Parliament in the 1984 elections. In 1984 he founded the Association of Green Esperantists. He is an honorary member of the World Esperanto Association. During this time he continued to work as a teacher, working as a housemaster at Saint Columba's College a Dublin boarding school. Currently Fettes is pensioned from teaching and is working to establish an eco-village on an estate he bought in 1991.

Il en devient responsable entre 1988 et 1998 en tant que délégué de UEA. Il devient en 1982 le secrétaire européen de l'union végétarienne internationale et président de l'association végétarienne espérantiste mondiale. Il se tourna ensuite vers la politique, en fondant avec un autre espérantiste, Máire Mullarney, le parti écologiste d’Irlande en 1981 qui changea de nom en 1987 en Parti vert d'Irlande. Il était candidat du parti vert pour les élections européennes de 1984 en Irlande. En 1984 il fonda l'association des verts espérantistes (AVE), participe à la rédaction de sa revue AVENO et devient membre honoraire d'UEA. Pendant tout ce temps il continua l'enseignement en Irlande, en étant housemaster (professeur chargé de la surveillance d'un internat) dans une école de Dublin. Il est actuellement retraité de son travail d'enseignant et s'occupe de l'organisation d'un écovillage dans une propriété qu'il a acheté en 1991 près de Tullamore.
