Chike Edozien Umezei Obi (b. April 17, 1921, in Zaria, Northern Nigeria, d. March 13, 2008) was a Nigerian politician, mathematician and writer. He was the provincial ruler (also known as an Asagba) of Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria. The African Mathematics Union suggests that he is the first sub-Saharan African to hold a doctorate in mathematics. Obi is the author of several books and journals on mathematics and Nigerian politics.
