- The Chevrolet Traverse is a full-size crossover SUV built on the GM Lambda platform that underpins the Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook. It is a successor to both the Uplander minivan and Trailblazer SUV. It also replaces the Pontiac Montana because of GM dropping the Pontiac brand after the 2010 model year, and also the related Saturn Outlook due to GM phasing out the Saturn brand in Canada only as a result of GM selling the Saturn brand to Penske, although Saturn is continuing sales in the United States only after the sale. The Traverse is built in Spring Hill, Tennessee, at the former Saturn plant where the S-Series, Ion, and Vue were produced from 1990 to 2007. The 2009 Chevrolet Traverse debuted at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show and arrived at dealerships in October 2008, competing with the Ford Flex which was release around the same time. The Traverse was part of a product placement by GM in the NBC drama My Own Worst Enemy, along with the new Chevrolet Camaro; the show was cancelled in mid-November 2008.
