Chesterfield is a market town and a borough of Derbyshire, England. It lies north of the city of Derby, on a confluence of the rivers Rother and Hipper. Including Staveley, the population (2001) is 100,879, although that of the town itself is 70,260. It is Derbyshire's largest town, although the county town of Derbyshire is Matlock in the Derbyshire Dales. Around 250,000 people live in the immediate area nearby including Dronfield, Bolsover, Staveley, Shirebrook and Clay Cross.

It is located on the A61, 6 miles from the M1 (via the A617 to J29 and A632 to J29A), and forms part of the Sheffield City Region.

Daher ist der Turm in den "Verein der gedrehten Spitztürme Europas" aufgenommen worden. In Europa sind 90 Türme registriert. Dem Volksglauben nach war der Kirchturm eines Tages so verblüfft, als einmal eine tatsächliche Jungfrau vor den Traualtar der Kirche trat, dass er sich hinabbeugte, um sich die Braut näher zu besehen. Was er da sah ließ ihn gebeugt zurück. Einer anderen Legende nach beschlug ein Schmied aus Bolsover dem Teufel die Hufe so unsanft, dass er über den Kirchturm sprang.
