Vuonna 2002 Vess kuvitti Jeff Smithin Rosen, Luupäiden spin-off-albumin, ja voitti työstään Eisner-palkinnon. Vess poikkesi heinäkuussa 2008 Suomessa yhtenä Tampereella järjestetyn Finnconin kunniavieraista.
