Charles John Colville, 1st Viscount Colville of Culross KT GCVO PC was a British nobleman, politician and courtier. The son of Hon. General Sir Charles Colville GCB GCH, he was educated at Harrow and succeeded his uncle in 1849 as Lord Colville of Culross. In 1853 he married the Hon. Cecile Catherine Mary Carrington, eldest daughter of Lord Carrington. He served as a Captain in the 11th Hussars and was President of the Honourable Artillery Company.

He was a representative peer for Scotland from 1851-1885, and served in government as Chief Equerry and Clerk Marshal to Her Majesty the Queen in 1852 and from 1858-1859 and as Master of the Buckhounds from 1866-1868. He was Chairman of the Great Northern Railway Company from 1872-1895, Lord Chamberlain to The Princess of Wales from 1873 to 1901 and to her as Queen Alexandra from 1901 to 1903. He was created a Knight of the Thistle in 1874, a Baron in 1885 and a Viscount in 1902, both in the Peerage of the United Kingdom.
