- The Charismatic Episcopal Church, more officially known as the International Communion of the Charismatic Episcopal Church (ICCEC), is an international Christian denomination established as an autocephalous communion in 1992. The ICCEC states that it is not a splinter group of any other denomination or communion, but is a convergence of the sacramental, evangelical, and charismatic traditions that it perceives in the Church Catholic from the apostolic era until present times. The founders of the ICCEC drew inspiration from diverse 20th century Christian churchmen and thinkers, particularly Alexander Schmemann, Lesslie Newbigin, Robert E. Webber (Anglican), Robert Jenson, and Thomas Oden; from the patristic fathers of the undivided Christian East and West, and from the doctrine and life of the early medieval priest-monks and bishops of Ireland, Scotland, England, and Gaul, whom they saw as embodying a fatherly, sacramental, and Spirit-expectant leadership for their congregations. The ICCEC claims its apostolic succession via Timothy Michael Barker, the leader of the International Free Catholic Communion and the Rebiban line via the schismatic Roman Catholic bishop Carlos Duarte Costa, who founded the Catholic Apostolic National Church of Brazil. The Charismatic Episcopal Church believes orthodoxy and orthopraxy to be the essence of the apostolic faith of the New Testament Church and holds the ancient Apostles' and Nicene Creeds as their official doctrinal statements. The ICCEC is not, nor has it ever been, affiliated with the Episcopal Church (ECUSA). The word episcopal is used to describe its hierarchy of bishops. Many churches in the ICCEC, however, claim an Anglican identity and many use the American Book of Common Prayer (1979). A new sacramentary, now in broad trial use, contains modified Roman, Anglican, and Eastern rites. The ICCEC's founding congregations were independent churches with roots in the Charismatic, Pentecostal, Wesleyan and Third Wave Evangelical movements. Pentecostal scholar H. Vinson Synan reports that the ICCEC is the first church emerging from the Pentecostal-Charismatic revivals of the last century to use the term "Charismatic" in its official name.

Kirkkokunta on omaksunut katoliset seitsemän sakramenttia, mukaan lukien opin ehtoollisen reaalipreesenssistä, sekä anglikaanisen Book of Common Prayerin liturgian. Karismaattisen episkopaalisen kirkon hankkima apostolinen seuraanto palautuu skismaattiseen roomalaiskatoliseen piispaan Carlos Duarte Costaan. Karismaattinen episkopaalinen kirkko on kasvanut voimakkaasti sitten 1990-luvun. Suurinta kasvu on ollut Keniassa, Ugandassa, Filippiineillä, Pakistanissa ja Brasiliassa. Kirkkokunta on laajentunut myös Viroon, jossa sillä on kolme seurakuntaa jotka sijaitsevat Tallinnassa, Pärnussa ja Tartossa. Kirkon yleisvikaarina Virossa toimii Heigo Ritsbek.
- A Igreja Episcopal Carismática do Brasil (IECB) é a província brasileira da International Communion of the Charismatic Episcopal Church, uma comunhão que congrega mais de setecentos mil membros em todo o mundo (2009). Seu bispo primaz é Dom Paulo Garcia, e sua sede, a Catedral Episcopal da Santíssima Trindade, em Recife - uma igreja histórica do anglicanismo brasileiro. Trata-se de um movimento de convergência, que mescla o tradicionalismo litúrgico com a renovação carismática. A Igreja Episcopal Carismática é também protestante ou evangélica, tendo sido organizada formalmente em janeiro de 2000, pelo arcebispo Revmº Dale Franklin Howard. A Igreja Episcopal Carismática está também radicada em Portugal, sob a alçada do Território da Ásia presidido por Sua Graça o Arcebispo Loren Thomas Hines e sob o cuidado pastoral de Sua Excelência Reverendíssima o Bispo José Elmer Belmonte e adopta o nome de Igreja Católica Apostólica Carismática. Tem duas congregações: uma em Lisboa e outra em Santo António dos Cavaleiros. Ambas são dirigidas pelo Reverendo Carlos Araya, coadjuvado pelo Reverendo Marco Lopes. O Rev. Carlos Araya tem a particularidade de ser o primeiro sacerdote numa Igreja católica a ter sido ordenado enquanto cego. Primeiramente foi ordenado diácono na Igreja Lusitana (Comunhão Anglicana) em 1997. Posteriormente, após ser confrontado com a falta de apoio à comunidade que criou em 1998 de matriz carismática, encetou contactos com a Igreja Episcopal Carismática que culminaram com a recepção da comunidade de Santo Estêvão como membro de pleno direito da mesma no dia 14 de maio de 2000. No dia anterior o Rev. Carlos cumpriu um sonho de juventude ao ser ordenado presbítero aos 65 anos de idade e cumpriu-se a profecia que lhe tinha sido dada que seria ordenado na Igreja Católica de Cristo. Foi o fim de anos de luta contra o preconceito e a exclusão.
