Later on, he appeared in Sohrab Modi's Pukar as Emperor Jehangir, as Randhir Singh in Mehboob Khan's Humayun but most importantly, as the Greedy Seth Dharamdass, in Mehboob Khan's Roti (1942 film). His last appearance was in Ramesh Saigal's Shaheed (1948 film). As Rai Bahadur Dwarka Nath, He played father to Dilip Kumar's in this film. Initially, his character is of an Assistant Commissioner of Police in British India, who is strongly faithful to the British Government but he gradually transitions to one who favors the Freedom Struggle. Just note when he fights for his freedom fighter son's acquittal in the court room.
