The Catalan Food Safety Agency (Agència Catalana de Seguretat Alimentària - ACSA) is an autonomous agency within the Health Department of the Generalitat de Catalunya, which aims to achieve the highest level of food safety in Catalonia through planning and coordination of control actions, collaborating and cooperating with different administrations, and sectors whose activity affects, directly or indirectly, on food safety.

  • The Catalan Food Safety Agency (Agència Catalana de Seguretat Alimentària - ACSA) is an autonomous agency within the Health Department of the Generalitat de Catalunya, which aims to achieve the highest level of food safety in Catalonia through planning and coordination of control actions, collaborating and cooperating with different administrations, and sectors whose activity affects, directly or indirectly, on food safety. The Agency is participated by the departments of Health, Agriculture, Food and Rural Action, Environment and Housing and the Consumers Agency, all of which have competence in the various aspects related to food safety, thereby enabled with a transversal character. The creation of the ACSA is part of the evolving global food safety organization in the European Union which covers the entire food chain, from agricultural production to the final food products available to consumers, and involves all operators responsible for food safety as well as competent authorities responsible to ensure a high level of health and safety of the population.
  • L'Agència Catalana de Seguretat Alimentària (ACSA) és un organisme autònom creat al 2002 i adscrit al Departament de Salut de la Generalitat de Catalunya, que té com a finalitat aconseguir el màxim grau de seguretat alimentària a Catalunya mitjançant la planificació i la coordinació de les actuacions de control, amb la col·laboració i la cooperació de les diferents administracions públiques i dels sectors l'activitat que incideixen, directament o indirectament, en la seguretat alimentària. La seva seu és al barri del Poblenou de Barcelona. L'Agència està integrada pels departaments de Salut, d'Agricultura, Alimentació i Acció Rural, de Medi Ambient i Habitatge i per l'Agència Catalana del Consum, que tenen competències en els diferents aspectes relacionats amb la seguretat alimentària, cosa que li confereix un caràcter de transversalitat. La creació de l'ACSA s'emmarca dins l'evolució global del sistema de seguretat alimentària a la Unió Europea que abasta tota la cadena alimentària, des de la producció agrària fins al producte a disposició dels consumidors i implica tots els agents econòmics amb responsabilitats en seguretat alimentària i totes les administracions que vetllen per garantir un elevat grau de salut i seguretat de la població.
