Carl Peter Parelius Essendrop (6 June 1818 – 18 October 1893) was a Norwegian bishop and politician. He was the bishop of the Diocese of Tromsø from 1861 to 1867. From 1867 to 1872 he was the vicar of the Diocese of Kristiania, and also lectured at the Royal Frederick University. From 1 July 1872 to 23 November 1874 he was the Minister of Church and Education. He later filled in as acting Minister from 26 May to 4 June and 6 July to 20 July 1875.

During the term 1877–1879 he was a deputy member of the Norwegian Parliament, representing the constituency Kristiania, Hønefos og Kongsvinger. He was a brother of Bernhard Ludvig Essendrop. He died in October 1893.

Essendrop ble cand. theol. i 1839. Han var fra 1842 lærer (adjunkt) ved Trondheim katedralskole. I 1849 ble han sokneprest i Klæbu og bestyrer av lærerseminaret samme sted. Han var biskop i Tromsø Stift (tilsvarer dagens tre nordligste fylker) fra 1861 til 1867, og stiftsprost i Oslo fra 1868. Fra 1. juli 1872 til 24. oktober 1874 var han statråd i kirkedepartementet. Han var biskop i Oslo fra 1. januar 1875 til sin død 18. oktober 1893. Han var også stortingsrepresentant for Kristiania fra 1877 til 1879. Essendrop ble regnet som en begavet taler, og hans homiliebok «Prædikener til alle Aarets Helligdage» fra 1873 fikk stor utbredelse. Ved Københavns Universitets 40-års jubileum i 1879 ble Essendrop kreert til æresdoktor i teologi.
